Bookmarks are the links embedded in your PDF file to provide an easy text navigation panel. For sure, they are of great help when you are looking for a particular heading in a document or a chapter in a e-book. However, they come with a cost, which is, they add up to the size of the document.
There are several tools available to remove the bookmarks from a PDF for Windows OS, but very few for Linux. And even if you successfully find a tool supported by Ubuntu, it is heck of a work to install it and get it working.
So, if you are using Ubuntu and want to remove bookmarks from your document in less than 30 seconds, don't worry. Your terminal is your Saviour.
Follow the simple steps:
1. Convert your .pdf file to .ps file.
pdf2ps myfile.pdf
2. Convert it back to .pdf.
ps2pdf myfile.ps
And its done!!!
